Helping Patients Who Drink Too Much: A Clinician's Guide and Related Professional Support Resources (NIAAA)

NIH's NIAAA offers this book and online support resources including free continuing education credits through MedScape. The course helps clinicians screen and treat their at-risk clients. It provides training to help clinicians identify and counsel at-risk drinkers as well as treat individuals with mild to moderate alcohol dependence.

While you're at it, you can offer clients the patient guide and other publications provided in the materials. It is available online and in booklet form. It's geared toward individuals who are heavy drinkers or who are concerned about their drinking. (8/2010)
