Lists of Major Resources & Portals

These are sites that provide links to major resources and portals for general mental health resources, or a good number of different topics. For our list, go to Major Resources &amp Portals. For specific topics, see our Topical listings.

General and Clinical

Therapies Directory (eHelp.com)
Directory of resources with areas for psychotherapy, addiction, and psychiatry, among others. As of 11/04, it needed to be better organized, but some areas had a good number of links. Developed by Peter Migaly, M.D.

Psychology degree and research resources, AcademicInfo.net
Appears to be an attempt to use a limited number of degree program affiliate links to make money, but it does also have a list of useful resources. (2/2009)

Internet Guide to Psychiatry (American Psychiatric Association)
Very well-rounded, well-populated list of resources. You'll be surprised. Includes extensive sources of abstracts, general mental health professional resources, consumer resources, and more.
"The APA Librarian's Favorite Links" (11/04)

Resources MHSource.com
As of 10/04, there were not a lot of resources and they were not rated or organized by whether they were professional or self-help.

Psychology (Google & DMOZ Directory)
Social Sciences
These link directory sections hold many subcategories pertaining to mental health, clinical practice, psychological science and so on. The Open Directory Project (DMOZ) is the source, but I included two links in case Google makes any change in its source.
Scroll down for related categories.

Psych Net UK
Well-organized, professional mental health and psychology directory. UK based.

This is a good starting place, because Wikipedia includes links and citations. It also has links to related areas within Wikipadia. As a volunteer project, it evolves as volunteers join and add material. The community applies quality control standards in various ways.

Villamarelli
Extensive links related to cognitive rehabilitation and related topics, as well as broader resource links for clinicians.

Psychiatrist.com
Journals, CME, free articles with free registration. (2/2010)

Psychiatry.com
Very limited so far (as far as I could tell). "The main purpose of this website is to offer a comprehensive source of information on psychiatry. It is still a work in progress." Maintained by Mark Hauser, MD. (2/2010)

Professional Organizations, Directories of

Associations (About.com)

Psychology Organizations (About.com)
Not really just psychology. Alphabetical listing of all sorts of professional mental health organizations, from Astrology in Psychology to the mainstream ones. Side bar has a list of categorical lists, but the categories are rather incomplete.
